At the start of the 2022-23 school year, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School introduced three Cardinal Virtues into the education and daily interactions among all students. The Cardinal Virtues of Prudence, Temperance, and Justice worked to frame our building-wide expectations and common language with students. Teachers have started working to expand Catholic Virtues in the classroom through a new program called Education in Virtue. This program will more fully integrate Catholic vocabulary into the academic setting.
Education in Virtue is a program that forms students to grow in holiness and expressions of faith through learning, living and witnessing the habits of virtue. The program’s social-emotional curriculum allows teachers and students to put virtues into practice through age-appropriate teachings and language. By design, all grade levels will be studying the same definition of virtue each week allowing them to receive and understand the virtue appropriately. Students will learn how to live out the Cardinal Virtues of Prudence, Temperance and Justice, along with many related virtues that help solidify our mission of leadership, integrity and service.
Through Education in Virtue, language and teaching of the virtues will be integrated into all facets of daily school life offering administration, staff and students of St. Joan of Arc Catholic School to be the best version of themselves as disciples of Christ.
